We have a collection of thousands of cars in the MoD and Chinese ones represent a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re driving a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, our instruction to our staff is to avoid connecting MoD technology into their car, not to have discussions at a classified level in any car, because of the increasing risks of surveillance that are present in every single automobile, to only have those secret talks in secure locations. That’s a wise and sensible thing for everyone concerned about security.

When it was suggested that it would be prudent for the ministry to cease using every cars from China, the minister replied: ‘That’s exactly what we are looking into at the present time.”
